writings

In 2700 B.C. the "mind blowing" Ancient Egyptians were visited by martians who taught them to begin capturing their words with symbols known as hieroglyphs. This "capturing of language" really caught on! Pretty soon everyone started illustrating their words through different texts. Surprisingly, over 9 million years later we still use this "writing" to capture our words which we, in fact, use to express our thoughts and feelings. This part of the web site is to exhibit people's thoughts and feelings. Have fun viewing and sharing this evolved form of alien communication.

Adam (hip-hip) Johnson

Stevens Point, WI

We call Adam Hip-Hop. He loves Hip-Hop. We love Hip-Hop. Hip hop writes writings which can probably best be described as being raw. But not raw like a fresh vegetable or a wrestling match but like well, you know, life. He writes from his heart but lets his brain do the talking with comprehensive metaphoric imagery that seems to convey just how he's feeling when he writes. You'll dig.

robin lee
La Farge, WI

My name is robin lee and i wish i was a better writer than i am. Which means i'm going to keep trying until i can't try any more. I hope to someday write and teach either creative writing or creative non-fiction for a living, but i have a lot of work to do before that happens. This is a taste of the stuff that i've written and felt good doing so. Some is a little emotional, some is a little ignorant (especially in the punctuation; speling, also and grammar department), but all is a part of me that i would like to share with you if you're interested.

Skater Matt Grosjean
Ashland, WI

Skater Matt isn’t quite right in the head.  He likes kicking poodles and giving old ladies the middle finger.  He is also fond of spitting on carnival rides.  When he reads Dostoevski, he never feels sorry for anybody.  He once played Temple of The Dog’s “Hunger Strike” on the radio and dedicated it to Terry Schiavo.  He has a filthy mind that produces filthy, unreadable garbage. I would not recommend reading any of these pieces, but if you must, do not attempt any of the stunts contained therein.

Tim Brass

Monmouth/ Independence, OR

I am in Oregon right now, working with Americorps/University of Oregon as a planner in two rural communities (Monmouth and Independence) for a program called RARE (Resource Assistance for Rural Environments).  Shit is sweet out here so far!  Been hiking and things of that nature. As far as a Bios goes, you could include something like that, maybe a connection to this email and a note about my love for the outdoors (hunting especially).

(note: Time Brass loves the outdoors, especially hunting.)

Leslie Howes
Madison, WI

"awkward." Strong. Enjoys the color orange.

Jon Baker
Viola, WI/ Seattle, WA

Jon Baker is a hero, plain and simple, a hero. Jon Baker is nominated for both the pulitzer prize and the nobel peace prize for the untiring work he has done in the field of leftoverbags and quality-reusable-unleftoverbags. Creativecollectivity is honored to feature his timeless masterpieces.

Scott J. Butterfield
Stevens Point, WI

Scott Butterfield is a damned good writer, you'll be impressed believe me.

Erica Schultz
Stevens Point, WI

Erica's field of expertise is Journalism and Literature but she likes to write poetry on the side. You'll find her poems to be honest and reflective with a tint of poetic professionalism that maintains and respects poetry in it's traditional form.

Carl Capotto Jr
Stevens Point, WI

Carl's writing is mind bending. He likes to play with his work you can tell. He likes to make you think twice about the sentence that he writes. He interjects his many levels of consciousness providing a very full and perspective narrative.

Adam Gregory Pergament Madison, WI

Adam Gregory Pergament, a finalist for Best Artist (Other) in the First Annual Madison Area Music Awards, is a Spoken Word performer who has managed to bridge the gap between poetry and music.  His dynamic style of Rock and Fire Flowpoetry combines rhythm, musicality, and a highly condensed depth of poetic language.  His delivery on stage, often incorporating sound effects and loops, makes him one of the most unique and riveting performers on the Midwestern musical and artistic landscape.  Adam speaks shamanically through poems of Asian Gods and Goddesses, tells Cowboy stories of the American Wild West and the Railroad Age, and poetically rants and rages about both Love and War.  In 2006, he was appointed as the first ever "Poet-In-Residence" at The King Club, Madison's premier live music dance club.  He has performed over 400 times in the USA with Rock and Roll bands, Jazz musicians, and as a solo poet.  His current projects include Chime Collective Big Band which performs improvised free flow freak-out musical explorations every Monday evening at The Madison Center For Creative And Cultural Arts, Venice Gas House Trolley (an all acoustic post-Beat trio consisting of voice, up-right bass, and bongos), Four Strand Eye Splice (a deep-ambient groove quartet of two electric basses with effects, vocal loops, and lap-top computer glitch), and Rock and Fire Flowpoetry (Adam’s solo spoken word with vocal effects and loops).

Amanda Kellogg

La Crosse, Wi

I daydream so much sometimes I get lost between realities. I have an extreme obsession with popsicles and Nerds candy. I don't have even one regret about my past. I want to go sky diving someday. I hate Cancun, but really hope to visit Italy. I have a cat named Pablo and he has the most beautiful blue eyes you've seen. My boyfriend Justin has shown me that cuddling really is addicting. Between him and my two best friends, I've found that there really is hope to be found in people. I find that the smallest things in life make me the happiest. I have a thing for eyes; they talk to me. I'd like to ask the president alot of questions, but know that I wouldn't get any answers. I get lost in paintings and have a love for the arts. I constantly worry about my friends that are either in Iraq or leaving soon to be there. When Bailey and I take over the world one day we will boycott underwear, shoes and bras. Showers are overrated and live music is my favorite drug. I've found that most people don't quite understand me. I'm okay with this. My only fear is loneliness. I want to learn to play the guitar, the cello, the violin and the piano. I don't have the time or money for even one of those dreams right now. I believe that most people aren't truly living, but merely surviving. I dissect everything you say. I think that bands like Linkin Park should be locked in a room full of razor blades. I don't like organized religion. I believe that laughter truly is the best medicine. My favorite quote is "Those who dance through life will never be understood by those who don't hear the music". Thunderstorms are my favorite and I love the smell of rain. I like football more than my boyfriend. I write poetry more than letters. A road trip is an indescribable form of therapy for me. My life is ruled by emotion and introspection. I believe I have alot of stories to tell for only being 22 years old. My favorite color is green. I don't believe you can truly love one person and have sex with others. I work in a nursing home and have learned that true love does in fact exist. True love is a love that lasts all of your life and beyond death. I don't believe the recent controversy over Christmas greetings should be labelled a "war" when we have soldiers dying overseas. I think it's sad that men are taught to apologize for their weaknesses, women for their strengths. I love camping. Some think that I hate men. I don't. I hate ignorant people who exploit sex and fight to do so. I hate people who see women, or any living being, as an object. Skinny dipping rules. I think that most people don't appreciate the things or people they love the most until it's too late. I am annoyed by girls that try too hard to be something that men(boys at best) want, and in doing so give up what makes them independent; what makes them feminine; what makes them honest and strong. I have a best friend who is 95 years old.(read my writings)

Cole Donovan
La Farge, WI

After college for 4
years and moving to Florida for about 2 years it
became more obvious to me that if we live our lives by
the constraints set on us by others we will only be
what they see us as, and never be what we may aspire
to be and limit our potential.
I write alot on my ideas on the perspective of others.
In my longer poems they tend to have abrupt twists or
change in tones. I've been told I write with "a
strange breed of hope" I give my, at times, twisted
perspective of life, love and the future. (read my writings)
